test drive - forever open.

TEST DRIVE

Want to test out the setting? Not sure if your character is a good fit? Need to start gathering some samples? You know how it goes:

→ Comment with the character's name and series in the subject.
→ Pick an option or make your own.
    → Tag around.
    → Enjoy yourself!!

Check out these helpful links to get a sense of the game:

G A M E  L I N K S

R E S O U R C E S
You're awake. You're lying on a cold floor, and your head is pounding. It feels like you've been hit with a sledgehammer. You can barely move, but you push yourself up anyway, and look around. You're in an unfamiliar warehouse, and on your left wrist is a bracelet. It feels heavy, and no matter how hard you tug at it, it refuses to come off. You can't remember how you arrived here, nor do you recognize anyone else. Try not to panic too much.

( For the purposes of the Test Drive, characters will be arriving in the warehouse instead of the Elevator/AB Room)

An Ambidex Game has just concluded. You have entered in your vote and there's no turning back. Did you trust your opponent and vote ally? Or did you double-cross them and vote betray? What did your opponent do? Did they vote betray while you voted ally, or did they vote ally while you voted betray? Why did you choose one or the other? Just what did you do?

Rules are meant to be broken. You've just reached a certain amount of BP, and you can finally have access to food (low or high quality) or to the dorms. It's great, things are getting a bit more bearable now, but seeing the others without the same "luxuries" as you, you feel like you should do something. It's against the rules to bring food or blankets out of their respective rooms, but Zero can't have eyes everywhere... can he?

Exploration and Escape. All the windows are bolted shut, and all the doors are locked. The exit is through the number 9 door, but no one can reach it until they have 63 BP. It'll take too long to wait for help to arrive, and to accumulate that many points. There must be some way out. Maybe if you search enough, you can find a tool to help you break down a door.

Wild Card. Want to try something else? Go for it! Have your own AB Game round, have characters argue against each other, try to keep the mood cheery, whatever! Make full use of the environment and mechanics, just remember to keep it within the game's structure.

[ Hershel's approach surprises Wirt, and he jumps a little before turning to him. He hadn't expected anyone to come over and talk to him, honestly, but he's definitely grateful that Hershel did. Sure, he's on a different team and probably knows more than Wirt does right now, but at least he's trying to look reassuring. (I'm cool with the results being anything! Surprise me.)

Not really sure how to approach the situation, Wirt clears his throat, picks up his hat, and tries to act cool. He briefly wonders how much Hershel heard, and then very quickly pushes that thought to the side. It would be mortifying if Wirt's poetry hour had been overheard. Seriously, talk about embarrassing. But it's not something he can dwell on right now. He has more important things to focus on. ]

Uh. Yeah, I guess you could say that. Are they always so...Intense? [ Intense doesn't really describe the experience as well as he would like, but eh. ]

Well... [Hershel had to consider that question for a moment, frowning. Murdergames had a tendency to be pretty intense, but-] No, not always. Especially if you end up in a team of people you trust, it can be rather... I suppose 'pleasant' isn't really the word most would use given the situation, but at least more pleasant than rounds like this.

I know it must sound terrible but you really do begin to get accustomed to it after a while. {He sounded kind of apologetic because going 'don't worry dude, you'll get used to your life and wellbeing being on the line in a month or two' was kind of terrible.]

That's--good, I guess. [ Wirt sighs. He want's to be cynical about it all, but Hershel's being so nice about everything. He would feel bad, if he freaked out about it. ]

But is it really--possible, to trust people here? I mean, with the way this place is, it's like it--wants us, to stab each other in the back. [ Not that Wirt is one to just screw people over. He's mostly worried that he'll end up trusting someone, only to have them betray him. ]

I think it is. I suppose you have a point, Zero and Calhoun certainly seem to want trouble between all of us...

But they never said betrayal was necessary, they never even said this game had to have a loser. [He tried not to wince at how optimistic that sounded, believe it or not he was on the pessimistic side but hey, sometimes you had to try to be upbeat? I guess?

He shook his head. Wow he'd be pretty rude to be saying all this if Wirt was betrayed this round...]
I guess it's important to remember Zero is our enemy, not each other.

[ Honestly, it helped a lot, and put things into perspective. He knew that Zero was their enemy, it's a fairly obvious fact. But at the same time, keeping that in mind could be hard sometimes.

He nodded, squaring his shoulders and somehow managing a half-smile. ]
Yeah. It's easy to forget that, with--everything, but yeah, you're right.

[ Now that he's feeling somewhat better about life, it's time to face the music. ]

So, about the results. Am I in for good news or...or bad news? [ He did his best to not grimace at the thought of there being bad news. ]

[Common enemy, Wirt, fight the man behind the curtain, etc. It really was easy to forget though, especially given how hardheaded people got.] We're all in this together, Wirt, as impossibly naive and hopeful as that may sound. Just... well, sometimes you have to remind the more pigheaded people here. [Rude but so true.]

[At Wirt's question Hershel looked surprised before.... smiling. Yes, Wirt's too cute I choose ally I'm so sorry.]

I don't think you'll be disappointed. [He answered, nodding to Wirt's bracelet.] You must have made a good impression.

I made a--[ Wirt looked down at his bracelet and just kind of stared at it a moment, surprise slowly turning to a relieved smile. ] Oh! Oh, good. I was sure I had gone and messed it up somehow but, but wow. I did it.

[ He wasn't out of the water yet, of course. He wouldn't be until he gets out of there and back to whatever his life was. But getting though the puzzle room in one piece and not being betrayed is something to feel good about. He would try not to worry about the rest until later. ]

Guess I---wasn't stuck with any of those pigheaded people, huh?
